Mt. Hood

We topped off a 300 mile Sunday drive up the Willamette Valley, then through the Columbia River Gorge to Hood River, and around Mt. Hood, by going up the mountain as far as the Timberline Lodge. New snow was glistening on the slopes higher up. If you look closely (click the image to enlarge) you will see some dark specks on the lower left ridge which are hikers (maybe climbers?). They lend a sense of scale to the scene.

Would love to see this in person. Pictures just don't do justice to its size and majesty. Need to look at Flickr and see if there are more... ;) -L

That would make a nice road trip on your bike! The lodge is something to see too - http://www.timberlinelodge.com/.
There is a beautiful night shot of Mt Jefferson (south of Mt Hood) that you ought to see at http://www.nppnw.org/gallery/fall2009/scenic.html.
